Description

The project addresses the need to improve the financial and organizational sustainability of the applicant, expand the applicant’s network and capacity to carry out its mission and goals. The project aims at boosting the applicant’s capacity by expanding its network. First, an assessment of the institutional capacity, a strategic plan for sustainable development and a fundraising strategy will be developed, discussed by the experts, members and NGO representatives of the applicant and adopted. Second, a campaign to promote the applicant’s work and expand its network will be carried out. A website will be developed presenting the organization, its strategic documents developed and its initiatives. The project will benefit the applicant’s staff, members, clients as well as the local community and related NGOs.

Summary of project results

The project addressed the need to improve the financial and organizational sustainability of the organisation, expand its network and capacity to carry out its mission and goals. In institutional terms, the project strengthened the structures and functioning of the organization and gave a perspective to its activity with the strategic plan. With regards to finance, the contribution for co-financing of the project and continuation of the work of the organization was ensured. With regard to policies and institutions, the project provided opportunities for mobilization of the civil society and its involvement in local and regional policies and contacts with institutions. Local communities and committed citizens were directly involved in the process of strategic planning and development of the organization. That had a positive impact on their activity and desire to solve the issues facing Black sea and the coast. Ideas for new projects and campaigns emerged. The local coastal communities and the green NGO community established contacts. Contacts were established also with the local authorities in some localities. The organizational structure and capacity for planning and fundraising of the organization improved. The organization developed; it registered 2 branches and became more active and recognizable in the environmental community and among the community on the coast. Relations and contacts with other NGOs were renewed or expanded. The exchange of ideas in the network had positive impact on all of its members. Project outputs: - Three expert reports were prepared and adopted by the Board of Directors for improvement and development of organizational sustainability and its financial status. They were also adopted by the General Assembly of the association. They started being implemented with new ideas for development, closer engagement with the local community (branches, 7 new members); - Co-financing was provided and 2 proposals for new projects were prepared. - A campaign for expansion was implemented together with visibility and publicity (3 press conferences, 3 press releases, materials) with a website http://www.bseco.info/index.html and a database of Black Sea NGOs, materials, campaign, branches, etc.
