Description

The project addresses the social and economic exclusion of the Roma in Nikola Kozlevo Municipality, Shumen District, due to their low literacy (40% are illiterate, 25% have primary education). The project aims at integrating the Roma by raising their awareness about the importance of education, healthcare and employment. First, an awareness-raising campaign to prevent school dropout will be held targeting 700 students in 5th-12th grade and about 600 parents. In addition, 100 parents will be actively involved in a school for parents. Second, the healthcare campaign will be held including leaflets, free medical check-ups, counselling of young mothers and vaccinations. Third, a group of 55 young people will be trained as trainers in youth participation, fundamental human rights and intercultural cooperation. The project will benefit the Roma community and the local community in general. The partner will help with its expertise, experts, premises, planning and technical support.
