Summary of project results

The project addressed the need for socialization of children/young people with disabilities from the village of Dalbok Dol. It introduced a new and interactive approach for Bulgaria, i.e. the creation of an inclusive social environment for prevention and active socialization of children with disabilities or children from institutions. The project activities enabled 25 children and young people from the Social Service Centre to develop various social habits and personal qualities through taking care of an organic garden and taking part in social and art therapy classes and various public and cultural events. The training sessions and practical work helped the specialists from the Social Service Centre change their attitude towards the children and young people with focus on greater understanding for the individual rate of knowledge acquisition and learning, tolerance and interest in the person. Models to train specialists in social affairs were developed under the project and a teaching aid on Inclusive Social Environment was published. The project was carried out in partnership with the association for anthroposophical curative education and social therapy and Child and Space Association.
