The project addresses the challenges facing young people in Bulgaria (unemployment, disillusionment, apathy). The project aims at encouraging young people to be more active and to solve their problems. First, an information campaign will be launched in 3 districts in Sofia City: Mladost, Lyulin and Nadezhda. Second, 18 young people aged 21-29 will be attracted as Hunters. Next, the Hunters will be trained for 6 days in communication, leadership, fieldwork, civic engagement. The Hunters will attract other young people to the project for 4 months. Third, 15 projects targeted at the local communities and submitted by the participants for SEASON 1 (15 March-15 July 2015) will be implemented and evaluated. Fourth, 6 of the project will be upgraded during the SEASON 2 (01 August – 30 November 2015). Finally, good practices will be shared. The project will benefit the young people in the 3 districts, local communities and local authorities.

Summary of project results

The project addressed the challenges facing young people in Bulgaria (unemployment, disillusionment, apathy). It aimed at encouraging young people to be more active and to solve their problems. The participants set up and developed self-help groups and encouraged their neighbours and friends to make change happen in their environment. Some of the young people started their own entrepreneurship project, others will follow suit soon. The participants submitted 46 project proposals altogether and the team of Open Space Foundation supported 22 of them. Some of them (such as drawing on switchyards, the cycle rickshaw project and drawing in hospitals) will continue after the official project end. The team of the Foundation is currently negotiating with the administration of Nadezhda Neighbourhood to provide them with premises to hold meetings with young people from the area and provide them with expert support for their ideas. 244 young people, 71 children and 18 parents from three neighbourhoods in Sofia City took part in all the initiatives.
