Description

The project addresses the need to encourage volunteering among children and young people and include it in the school curriculum. The project aims at promoting volunteering by “Do-good” classes and trainings. First, an awareness raising campaign will be held in 4 schools. Second, 40 “Do-good” classes will be held with 200 students in 1st-to-4th grade. Second, 2 volunteering initiatives based on the school needs will be held in each school with the help of 400 volunteers. Third, 150 children will take part in “Doing good” drawing competition. Fourth, 35 school staff will attend a 2-day training on volunteering. Next, 80 volunteers aged 14-19 will have basic training and 120 volunteers will learn to organize campaigns. Finally, the results will be presented to the stakeholders at a round table. The project will benefit the school students, teachers and management, parents and peers and education authorities. The partner will help with its experience and the assessment methodology.

Summary of project results

The project addressed the need to encourage volunteering among children and young people and include it in the school curriculum. It helped boost positive attitudes to volunteering among the students from primary and secondary schools and motivated and involved to a great extent school management with promoting volunteering in the future. A number of initiatives took place under the project, targeted at improving the school environment and solving the issues of local communities. The initial project goals were achieved to a great extent which motivated the leading organization and its partners to set a new goal, i.e. to further develop the network of schools and continue with the Do Good classes in schools.
