Description

The National Council of Greek Women will organize  a targeted study visit in the Norwegian NGO Terram Pacis which is active in issues of gender-based violence. The ultimate goal of the initiative is knowledge transfer and adoption of best practices that will enable the empowerment of women in the matter of their protection from acts of gender-based violence. The study visit will conclude in Greece with the organization of dissemination activities.

Summary of the results

The National Council of Greek Women (NCGW) organized a study visit to Norway focused on addressing gender-based violence. The visit, which involved three NCGW executives, aimed to explore effective measures and interventions to combat violence against women, in response to increasing incidents of abuse in Greece. The delegation visited the NGO TERRAM PACIS, based in Norway, which has a strong track record in educational activities related to managing gender-based violence. The training covered the cycle of gender-based violence, its impact on women and children, and the role of discrimination in perpetuating violence. The session also included insights into the Norwegian legislative framework for equality and mechanisms for combating discrimination. Additionally, the use of art as a tool for engaging youth in addressing emotional and social issues was discussed. Following the visit, the training was evaluated through a questionnaire, and dissemination actions were planned, including workshops for NCGW members and a public event to share the results. The diplomatic authorities of Greece in Norway and Norway in Greece were also informed about the initiative.
