Summary of project results

In Jemnica, the plan to build several large-scale feedlots for broilers  with a meat processing plant in Jemnica is being implemented. New giant buildings are to be built near natural and cultural monuments. Part of the local public is concerned about the ecological and social risks associated with the implementation of the plan and the prioritization only economic interests. The goal of the project is to submit opposing expert opinions as part of the public deliberations of the approval processes, which will discuss the risks associated with the exhibition and thus bring into the approval processes the opinions of citizens.

By implementing the project, we were able to monitor the progress of the entire project for the construction of large farms and slaughterhouses in region Jemnicko. We focused on the monitoring of the approval processes for the construction of large farms in Mešovice and Uherčice, as well as the complementary process of changing the territorial plan No. 4 in Uherčice. We monitored and controlled the implementation of the results of the referendum in Jemnice. We also started monitoring other planned construction sites. We informed the public through published articles on websites and social networks (FB). 76 people joined the automatic newsletter subscription via e-mail. We have agreed on cooperation with the ČSOP Jemnice, we have repeatedly informed prominent institutions dealing with nature protection in the region about the situation in Jemnice. We actively participated in several approval procedures, where we achieved partial successes, e.g. the cancellation of the previous permit of the city of Jemnice to issue ID cards. of wells to the meat processing plant, postponement and call for additions in the EIA process for the Uherčice Mitrov farm project, where the Audit Office has not yet issued a favorable opinion. The indirect effects of project implementation can also include discussions that take place at the micro-level of society relationships, where it is possible to record, based on the personal experiences of members of the Association, discussions about the negative environmental consequences of construction and vice versa, e.g. about the economic disadvantages that the refusal of construction can bring for municipalities. The holding presents itself as an important sponsor of municipalities, whose donations are an attractive addition to the budget for municipalities.

People in the municipalities are not just witnesses of constructions, but thanks to the implementation of the project, they can weight the arguments for and against and participate in public discussions and deliberations at the level of legal construction processes.
