We are living in a time when we are running out of time to be indecisive when it comes to environmental policy decisions. Not long ago, we protested for water protection, but that was just one of the battles we have to win. On 23th of February, the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy released the draft text of the Law on the introduction of installations forthe production of electricity from renewable energy sources, which at first sight seems welcome, but which certainly requires more detailed consideration. With the project Blind spots of green transition, Radio Študent will try to create a public debate involving experts and professionalized NGOs as well as the general public, who is always left somewhere in the background when it comes to discussing important issues. By organizing round tables with experts and with the production of the in-depth radio shows by our journalists, the RŠ will try to raise as much awareness as possible among the general public about the advantages and disadvantages of the so-called Green Transition. The mainactivity of the project is a communication campaign, which will be conducted through the airwaves and the RŠ website, as well as through the NOR and MARŠ radio programmes, to raise awareness of the green crossing among the general public and to put pressure on the other responsible authorities. Slovenia, under the EU, is obliged to meet its renewable energy targets, which of course concerns all citizens. The law enacts so-called regulatory sandboxes for testing new technologies, and the draft text includes, among other things, various lists of priority areas for the siting of solar and wind farms, makes it compulsory to install these generating installations in new buildings larger than 1 000 m2 or in all existing buildings larger than 1 700 m2, and removes certain procedural obligations for the siting of installations in areas where they have been discouraged until now.
