Description

TRANS(e)MISSION (TeM) is a bilateral collaborative programme of CIANT Prague (Czech Republic) and TEKS Trondheim (Norway) which was created to support, realize and present exhibition projects in the field of visual arts influenced by new technologies with overall objective to enhance cultural dialogue and strengthen European identity. New media of digital age (installation of interactive art, computer generated sounds and imagery, transdisciplinary forms of artistic expression etc.) is one of the currently underrated source of cultural movement, as it accumulate increasing amount of creative power in both countries, yet it stays culturally diversified and individualized in each of them. In both countries, there is a relevant growing scene of artists, which expands out of the standard categories and uses non traditional (namely technological) manners of expression. These artistic approaches are very strong in Norway whereas the situation in Czech Republic is noticeably weaker. This project is designed to enforce the needed channel for mutual transit of ideas, artworks, good practice and know how between Czech and Norway by organizing several interconnected activities such as transdisciplinary interactive exhibitions of digital, interactive and multi-disciplinary artists from Norway and Czech Republic in public urban spaces, two art/science symposiums dedicated to transdisciplinary debate of technological impact on humanity and series of 4 expert artistic workshops in Prague, Pilsen, Ostrava and Trondheim.

Summary of project results

The project "Trans(e)mission" was aimed at contemporary art and culture presented and reaching a broader audience. TRANS(e)MISSION (TeM) is a bilateral collaborative programme of CIANT Prague and TEKS Trondheim which was created to support, realize and present exhibition projects in the field of visual arts influenced by new technologies. Three interconnected types of activities between Czech Republic and Norway were carried out: 1. Trans-disciplinary Interactive Exhibitions (Prague 2015 and Meta.morf 2016 Trondheim) 2. Art/science symposiums (Prague 2015 and Trondheim 2016) 3. Artistic workshop series (three sessions: Prague, Pilsen, Ostrava/one session in Trondheim). Thanks to the project a long-term exchange of artworks, creators and know-how between Norway and the Czech Republic had started especially in the field of digital, interactive and technologically oriented art. The interconnection of young and older artists introduced a unique intergenerational contact and the possibility of conducting a dialogue on a common theme, albeit from a different point of view. The urban public space has thus become an open gallery. Many of TeM's activities have gained a long-term educational potential that were not expected: training courses, festivals, exhibitions and conferences.

Summary of bilateral results

The project had one donor partner from Norway: a non-profit organization TEKS - Trondheim Electronic Arts Centre. Both partners had been working closely from the very beginning of the project implementation. First the Norwegian partner participated on activities taking place in Prague in autumn 2015 (artistic workshops, TeM Symposium and exhibition). Then the activities in Trondheim were carried out with the help of Czech CIANT in spring 2016 - TeM Symposium, Trans-disciplinary exhibition and TeM artistic workshop. The partnership cooperation was further deepened and expanded thanks to the additional initiative from Bilateral fund "measure b" - CIANT: Trondheim - Mission Possible (CI:TRON) during the project implementation. The project and addtional initiative led to the establishment and enhancement of bilateral cooperation, exchange, sharing and transfer of knowledge, technology, experience and best practices between CIANT and TEKS, donor states and international organizations.
