Description

Children living in families affected by domestic or gender-based violence are often perceived as "invisible victims" and the system regularly fails to provide timely, comprehensive and professional help. The project is focused on creating an effective platform for interdisciplinary cooperation between Ústecký region and Moravian-Silesian region comprising interdisciplinary teams bring together relevant professionals. It will increase professional capacities of intervention centres and other relevant stakeholders in providing effective assistance to children at risk and. The project will set up, streamline and unify the procedures and competencies of organisations and employees respectively in assisting vulnerable children affected by domestic violence (during the expulsion of one of the parents or ban on the parent''s contact with the endangered child). The activities will also include development of materials and training for professionals enhancing early detection of the impact of violence on children. Interdisciplinary teams will learn to conduct a crisis conversation with an endangered child. They will share good practice with relevant NGOs and public institutions. Statistical data will be collected and evaluated creating a basis for the model of cooperation transfer it to the practice of intervention centres throughout the Czech Republic. Cooperation with law firms will verify how the judiciary is prepared to defend the rights of vulnerable children and parents in case of domestic violence. Based on transfer of good practice the project will create methodology for the regional authorities in dealing with the domestic violence and assisting children. In addition, communication activities shall turn public’s  attention to children endangered by domestic violence. The project consortium comprises the following project partners: Spirála (project promoter); Association of Intervention center workers; White Safety Circle; Ústí Regional Authority and Silesian Diakonia

Summary of project results

Final beneficiary have strengthened the expertise of social workers in intervention centers and cooperating
entities towards children at risk. Final beneficiary established collaborative teams of experts in the regions. Final beneficiary
reduced the amount of time a child was out of the welfare system. Final beneficiary created and distributed
methodological materials. Final beneficiary have extended the practice verified in the Ústí Region and the
Moravian-Silesian Region to the Czech Republic. Final beneficiary set up the collection of data on children at risk
in the Czech Republic.

Indicator: Number of supported platforms - number 1. Assistance to victims of DN and GPN is
provided at the national level through 16 intervention centers united in the Association.
Interdisciplinary cooperation on a nationwide scale will support: good practice in dealing with cases
of violence in the interests of minors, a statistical tool for collecting data on children, evaluating
support for children within the CR, sharing practice with the methodology of the Police of the Czech
Republic and the methodology of socio-legal child protection. Indicator: 2,546 service recipients -
clients of centers in the Ústí and Moravian-Silesian regions. The indicator was exceeded, the reason
is undoubtedly the concept of the entire project, the interconnectedness of individual activities
aimed at the education of social workers of the affected regions and professions, the creation of
platforms of entities that are the places of first contact of a social worker with a potential client.

Number of supported nationwide intervention platforms - 1. Number of supported service users
2,546. Number of brochures: 7,000 for social workers, 50,000 for parents, 15,900 for minors,
methodology for intervention center workers 40 pieces. Final beneficiary supported 17 interdisciplinary teams, 2
regional teams. Final beneficiary realized a total of 14 blocks of educational seminars, 2 final conferences. Final beneficiary
statistically collect and evaluate data about children in the "child card".
