Description

The project targets two municipalities in Bulgaria where the minorities are overrepresented – Pernik and Kardzhali. The experience of the project promoter shows that these municipalities are problematic in terms of domestic and gender-based violence due to cultural, ethnic and economic reasons. The goals set out in this project are a continuation and upgrade of the core activities of the project promoter – prevention, rehabilitation programs and advocacy campaigns to protect the rights of people affected by violence.

The project aims to build and establish an effective support program at local level for adults, adolescents and children, and their families who have experienced violence.

The planned measures focus on vulnerable women and children from the Roma community so as to increase their access to the provided support.

  • assessment of training needs, development of curricula, training for specialists in prevention and combating domestic violence;
  • development and implementation of the specialized services including provision of mobile support on the spot and a phone line set up for the purpose 9hot-line);
  • carrying out campaigns to raise awareness and sensitivity about domestic violence and gender-based violence;
  • exchange of experience and good practices with a partner from Norway.

The ambition of the project is to tangibly contribute to elimination of the forms of violence in human relations through the provided support to people who have experienced violence and the increased sensitivity of society to the problem.
