Description

The main objective of the project is implementation of a 0,420 MWp photovoltaic system in order to assure electricity from renewable resources for the technological process, district heating, which will contribute to the reduction of electricity costs and will reduce the CO2 emissions. The company conducted a Feasibility Study, from which it resulted that the installation of a photovoltaic plant has obvious advantages due to high energy production efficiency, the use of renewable energy and the reduction of energy costs.
Through the local production of green electricity with the help of a photovoltaic power plant of 420 kWp, it is possible to ensure and partially cover the own technological consumption of the pumping equipment and associated systems belonging to the Termoficare Napoca District Heating System company, in the location 68-70 Plevnei Street.
The photovoltaic system will be installed on the ground, inside the district heating plant, Termoficare Napoca, str. Plevnei, no. 70, which will partially cover the electricity consumption baseload during the day.
Therefore, according to the available space, it is proposed to install a number of approximately 723 photovoltaic. The modules can be installed on a fixed metal structure and will be oriented to the south, at an angle of inclination of 35 °, grouped in rows and then can be connected to 9 inverters, distributed on the ground, according to a configuration defined by Designer. The photovoltaic plant will produce 492 MWh/year for own consumption, covering part of its yearly energy needs of approximately 1.900 MWh/year.
Key activities include:

  • Project design and investment.
  • Internal project management.
  • Financial audit.
  • Publicity to ensure the visibility of the project.

The investment targeted by this project has a positive impact on the company. Its implementation reduces energy consumption from conventional sources, energy cost economy and gives a partial energy autonomy.

Summary of project results

The main problem of the Project Promoter was the high dependency on the conventional sources, which are too high in terms of CO2 emissions. Energy security was also a concern.

The project consisted in implementation of a photovoltaic system placed on the ground, with a total installed capacity of a 0,421 MWp, in order to assure electricity from renewable sources for the daily activities of the Project Promoter (production and supply of district heating) and to reduce CO2 emissions.

Outcome indicators:
a) Estimated annual CO2 emissions reductions: 152 tonns of CO2 eq./year;
b) Electric energy produced from other renewable sources: 500 MWh/year.

Output indicators:
a) Installed capacity for production of electricity from other RES: 0,421 MWp
b) Number of new installations for production of renewable energy: 1 new photovoltaic installation

Other indicators:
- Number of staff trained in the project: 19 persons

The proposed photovoltaic system will contribute to decreasing the dependency on conventional  sources by locally producing green energy which will be used for own consumption. The implementation of renewable energy will allow the company to decrease its annual CO2 emissions with estimated 152 tonnes of CO2 eq. per year.
