Description

The place where we live can be a high-rise for one, a city, region or a country for another. There are various places, but they all have one thing in common - people relate to them both in positive and negative way. We would like for the places where we live to include nature. Nature can often be found right behind our house or across the street. Our main goal is to support positive attitude of the public towards these places - by providing direct contact with nature, by assisting in learning about nature and in understanding it, and by actively engaging public in nature conservation. Our target group is elementary and high school students and teachers, general public and seniors.

Summary of project results

The place where we live ‒ it can refer to an apartment, city, or country etc. We wanted for our fellow citizens to make a connection between the place they live in and the nature around, maybe just behind their house or across the road. The objective of this project was to promote a positive relationship to these sites through direct contact with nature, its knowledge and understanding, and active participation in its protection. We targeted all of our activities to meet this goal, and according to our observations and the feedback we have received, we succeeded. The target group was over 700 people (seniors, members of the public, families, students and teachers) and together we did 47 diverse activities focused primarily on direct contact with nature (excursions and the Kids Caring for Nature events), but also theoretical activities (lectures, conferences). We believe that apart from new information and photos they received, the participants also built a relationship to the area they visited. Not only did this project bring many experiences, knowledge and unforgettable moments, it also helped us create a methodology called Children for Children, which is available for free download on the Rezekvítek website. It can serve as an inspiration for those, who would like to prepare similar activities at their school. The project also had a big impact on Rezekvítek itself, its development, publicity and the employees themselves, who were able to broaden their knowledge and skills at a variety of trainings and courses.
