Description

The project focuses on educational inclusion of Romany children and youth in Nové Město na Moravě. EZOP (low-threshold centre) aims to support the increase of target group of Romany children and youth who would successfully manage both elementary and secondary education. The project includes pre-school training, motivation to schooling, support of dutiful school attendance, help with homework, cooperation in secondary school and career choice, creating of inclusion-methodology and activities directed at targeted promotion of offer and at cooperation with parents and teachers.

Summary of project results

Project „Schooling (does not have to be) boring?!“ should improve relationship between Roma children and the school, education. Within the project activities children shall get the motivation to learn, improve school results, competences and achieve personal progress. During the project, 24 lessons with preschoolers took place, support learning groups for primary and secondary students have met 128 times. Volunteers worked on the project almost 480 hours. Individual support was attended by 27 children. We organized 11 communities for more than 300 children and parents. The project brought these concrete results: 93 children and adolescents participated in the project, some children achieved better school results; some participants evaluated the project as a stimulus to greater interest in education, communication with teachers and parents improved, preschool children improved habits and skills needed to start school. Thanks to the project the number of volunteers has increased, within motivation bonuses six children had the opportunity to choose leisure time hobby activities of their choice.
