Description
The project promotes rights of people at risk of hate violence coming from migrant communities. The increase of incidents targeting foreign communities is visible in the Czech Republic. Foreigners face substantial level of racism and xenophobia as well as lack of recognition, support and legal aid. The project encompasses three activities - community outreach within migrant communities exposed to hate violence (legal manual and training), social counseling and legal aid to migrant hate crime victims and networking of experts and support of practitioners.
Summary of project results
The project of the organization In IUSTITIA „Safe in new home“ supported the rights of people threatened by hate violence of foreigners, migrants and refugees. The project reacted to a high latency of hate violence on the within foreigners and migrants community and the low awareness about the rights of people at risk and exposed hate violence, and also absence of the helping services by organization working with this target group. The project at the same time reacted to the low exchange of information between organization providing services to victims and organizations working with migrants in their natural environment. By creating an expert platform cooperating organizations in the field of foreign issues to organizations providing services to victims of the hate crime for the purpose of sharing knowledge and experience, In IUSTITIA achieved bigger awareness of these organizations, which has a positive impact on mutual cooperation and to further awareness among the target group. Awareness of the target group also increased through active outreach work in places where the vulnerable communities occur, through training for vulnerable communities throughout the country and through the information brochure. Within the field work carried out by social workes with assistance of community workes was realized 56 screening in immigration communities and in the field was made 361 contacts. Awareness training for people at risk of violence was implemented in six events, with a total of 54 participants. The brochure „Safe in your new home; A guide for Foreign Victims of Crimes in the Czech Republic“ is the basic informational source, where the readers can learn basic information about criminal proceedings and which organization could help them.
