Description
The project''s focus is to support and solutions of disadvantaged women''s complex needs. These are single mothers, mothers and children in financial distress, and women with lack of appropriate education in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Single mothers, mothers with children in financial distress, and lower educated women live on the fringes of society – they take care of the children, while having to work to earn money to provide for their children and themselves. However, without part-time of flexible hours working opportunities, this is proving to be an unsurmountable challenge. Both public and private employers do not find it necessary to offer part-time work, especially to single mothers. The project''s goal is therefore to increase awareness among those employers, so they can react adequately to the needs of disadvantaged women, in particular in terms of improved access to part-time and flexible hours working arrangements. These objective will be achieved through deployment of educational program of the Academy for Support and Empowerment of Disadvantaged women. The educational programme will help them gain and share the necessary knowledge and skills. Our activities will further help empower a group of 30 women that will then be in a better position to present and implement ideas and plans of their communities. Thanks to this targeted support, the women will be able to stabilize their lives, and at the same time they will acquire necessary skills to support similarly disadvantaged woman and mother to help them peruse their interests in the broader society, at regional level. The project will be implemented together with two partners, one of them from abroad (Norway).
Summary of project results
n/a
The project has very closely opened up the topic of the needs of single parents and their difficult position on the labor market and in terms of housing. We have opened up the topic of work flexibility and its importance not only for single parents. During the conference, employers presented examples of good practice and positive experiences on this topic. We established closer cooperation with two employers and, based on our intervention, modified their strategies to be more friendly to disadvantaged groups.
Thanks to the project’s activities, we have become equal partners with the local public administration. We have established partnership with 8 local non-profit organizations. The participants who went through our training have stabilized their personal and professional lives. The participants took part in the implementation of round tables, initiated the creation of the FB community and supported other people in the similar situation. Thanks to their specific stories, we have managed to activate the local public administration to set new rules for social housing that are more friendly to single parents. During the implementation of the project, the position of Lumpíkov and Rovnovážka was significantly increased and strengthened, through campaigns and through the training of organization leaders. We created 3 videos about single parents and their needs and we recorded podcasts about work flexibility.
We created the Manual for single parents based on cooperation with local NGOs and public administration. In the Manual, services in our area can be easily found according to the situation.
Cooperation with partners was a great benefit for us personally and for the organization. Rovnovážka inspired us in organization of work and to be one step ahead. The Norwegian partner gave us his know-how and experience of the Nordic country, a big challenge for us was the transfer of experience to the local area.
