Description
The project responds to the still low participation of children and youth, especially from Roma families, into mainstream education. The intermediate objective of the project is to involve children in preschool education through the activities of preschool center Šneček, individual support education through individual and group work, the development of leisure activities and development activities aimed at supporting families and parents competencies. Ultimately, the project should contribute to increase the number of Roma children in preparatory classes, the development of educational and leisure activities in low-threshold centre and to deeper cooperation between our organization and the University J.E.Purkyně.
Summary of project results
This project was implemented in the area where is the highest concentration of Roma in Usti region. In addition to the below-average social composition, there is the below-average level of education of the people living here. Some people have only primary education, some people are illiterate. The main objective of the project was to set up a system of educational and leasure activities and to increase motivation and interest in children but also their parents to involve in this system. The project had seven key activities. All these activities were continuously filled and interconnect with each other. During this project was known about the high level of information and feedback from the target group. Target group have a chance to comment the activities and come up with their own ideas to enrich the program and activities. There was a big interest in the children and their families in especially preschool education and individual support for education. The project involving a total of 173 children aged 3 to 14 years, were realized 17 one-time activities, of which 7 of them have an educational character (four trips, two workshops, one educational staying for students) for the target group of children 6 to 14 years. We were in cooperation with Trmice Primary School, the University J.E.Purkyně and workers of activation programs.
