Description

The project addresses the problem of domestic violence and its negative consequences, including social exclusion. Anyone, regardless of their age, gender or family situation can get involved in violence. According to the Polish National Police, approx. 85,000 people experience violence every year, and most of them are women. Data collected by the Lubuskie Province Office, show that in 2019, there were 6510 people affected by violence in the Lubuskie Province, of which as many as 4613 people came from the southern part of the province – this is why our project covers this area in particular. While preparing the project we also drew on our own experience of running a crisis intervention centre, a single mother''s home and a helpline for victims of violence. The aim of the project is to support groups that are at risk of social exclusion due to experiencing violence and other crisis situations. The planned activities are addressed to different social groups (minors, adults, seniors), both those who experience crises and those who are the perpetrators. As part of the project we will conduct training activities, workshops and conferences on counteracting domestic violence and developing educative skills. We will also provide persons involved in violence with individual counselling. As an outcome of the project, a network of 8 districts of the Lubuskie Province Office will be established that will conduct training sessions. As part of the network’s activities, a common database will be created containing data of support centres for people involved in family violence. Beneficiaries of the project will be inhabitants of the City of Zielona Góra and the Lubuskie Province. The project''s partners are the Regional Centre for Social Policy and the Municipal Social Care Centre. Partners’ role is to provide organisational support, recruit project participants as well as promote the project activities and its effects.

The implementation of project activities regarding the implementation of individual and group psychological support allowed for observing changes in the expression of readiness to take action by people affected by a crisis situation.

The implementation of the project allowed the association to respond faster and appropriately to the needs of people affected by the crisis and to adapt the offer to actual and actual needs. A number of training courses had a positive impact on the people covered by them and allowed the association to take preventive measures for people working in educational institutions or directly working with victims of violence. This solution was not possible before.

The focus was on acquiring participants'' knowledge and skills to deal with crisis situations and violence. Seeing the possibilities of using their own resources and learning about the possibilities of obtaining support from the environment was supposed to help them cope with the crisis.

Providing information to the general community was intended to draw attention to the problem of violence, exclusion and possible consequences.

Moreover, this project, through partnership with MOPS and ROPS, has strengthened our organization.
