Description

The proposed project “TimeToTalk”, with a duration of 14 months, will be implemented by Ladies Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality (LDU-HOH). It aims to address the problem of the lack of organizations in the Prefecture of Drama that work with the perpetrators of gender-based violence. Furthermore, it aims to provide more effective support to victims of gender-based violence. Finally, it seeks to address the lack of information regarding the developing issue of new emerging forms of gender-based violence in the Cyberspace, for example cyber stalking.

The goal of the proposed project is to promote equality, to prevent and combat the phenomenon of gender-based violence, as well as its deeper causes through working with the perpetrator, the sensitization and awareness-raising of university students and adolescents about the new forms of online abuse.

The target groups of the proposed project are the perpetrators of gender-based violence, the victims, as well as the adolescents, their professors and university students.

The Norwegian organization “Alternative to Violence” will provide expert training to LDU-HOH regarding counseling services for perpetrators and LDU-HOH will provide counseling services to the perpetrators of gender-based violence. In addition, LDU-HOH will be provided training regarding more effective aid for the victims of gender-based violence and will provide support to them. Moreover, educational activities will be implemented for adolescents and professors, through which they will be informed and sensitized about the new forms of gender-based violence in the Cyberspace in order to be able to prevent it. Furthermore, a panhellenic university research will be conducted on students, concerning the new emerging forms of gender-based violence in the Cyberspace. The proposed project will be implemented by LDU-HOH without a partner.

Summary of project results

The project aimed at addressing the absence of public institutions that provide services to perpetrators of gender-based violence in the region of the prefecture of Drama and the wider region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. It also focused on the provision of support services to victims of gender-based violence and also targeted the lack of information and the removal of gender stereotypes in the student community in the wider region. 

In the framework of the project, the following were carried out:
 1. two live three-day scientific trainings by the Norwegian organisation in the atrium of the Open House, which was attended by 45 48 professionals (psychologists, social workers)
 2.two online trainings with Professor of Social Work, Sevasti Hadjifotiou, to 11 employees and volunteers of the organisation on new ways of managing victims of gender violence, information on the legislative framework and on how to achieve devotion to victims of gender violence. 
3.Inaugural event in the midst of a pandemic with the participation of 66 people.
4.18 15 face-to-face interactive seminars at the Open Hospitality House and in schools with 498 365 high school students of Drama County.
5. Psychological and legal support for 70 victims of gender violence.
6. Recording and analysis of 70 cases of victims of gender violence staying in the open hospitality hostel and calling the hotline.
7. Providing counselling to 15 victims of gender violence.

8.Operation of the 8-hour helpline and support for victims and perpetrators.
9. Renewal of the existing website with 387 visitors according to google analytics data.
10. Creation of interactive game "Change the plot" with 179 users according to google analytics data.
11. VIA DRAMA event with the unveiling of the graffiti in co-organization with the Municipality of Drama and 150 visitors.
12. University research by the 3 cooperating Universities of West Attica, Peloponnese and Democritus University of Thrace on emerging forms of violence on the internet with 150 questionnaires answered by students.
13.Closing workshop with the participation of 131 participants.

The project addressed the lack of institutions in the Prefecture of Drama that deal with the perpetrator of gender-based violence. It also helped to provide more effective assistance to victims of gender-based violence. It addressed the lack of awareness on the developing issue of emerging forms of online violence, promoted the values of equality, informed and sensitized the general public of Drama on issues of female abuse and gender-based violence informed the student communities and teachers about emerging forms of online violence. The project''s activities had a great social impact on the institution, since they constituted a significant It left a "heavy" legacy to the institution, as it acquired a methodology on issues of managing the perpetrator of gender violence, expertise that did not exist before the implementation of this project.
