OBJECTIVE:

The aims of the project are to develop new and improve existing forms of cultural activity, to involve people with disabilities in cultural activities on a large scale and to combat discrimination.

OPERATIONAL GOALS:

  • breaking down cognitive patterns and stereotypes within which socially and culturally defined disability operates,
  • counteracting the marginalisation of creativity of people with disabilities,
  • use of drama therapy (emphasis on the therapeutic values of theatre).

EVENTS:

  • presentation of performances by Candoco Dance Company (UK),
  • presentation of the performance “PokaZ” directed by J. Wielgus (production: Teatr 21),
  • presentation of a new spectacle by Teatr 21,
  • presentation of a spectacle by Teatr Manu (NO),
  • presentation of a spectacle by Danselaboratoriet (NO, Dance Laboratory in Trondheim, Norway, created by dancers with various physical dysfunctions, it was created in 2001 as an artistic educational experiment),
  • presentation of a spectacle by Claire Cunningham’s group (UK, Scottish performer and author of multidisciplinary performances, one of the most recognisable artists with disabilities in the world. In her performances she focuses on the potential of her specific physicality, while consciously rejecting traditional dance techniques).

The subject of the project was the organization of a number of artistic and educational events that will be held togetherthe denominator is non-normativity in the theater, breaking the disability taboo, and alsocreating new, lasting attitudes without prejudices and fears of interactions betweensociety and people with disabilities. Among the recipients of many eventspresented as part of the project included, among others: people professionally involved in education andcultural animation, operating in various cultural centers ortherapeutic, from Poznań and the surrounding area. Participation in performances and subsequent conversations withartists and representatives of the theaters hosting us, as well asworkshops allowed this group of recipients to become familiar with the barriers they may encounter duringworking with people with disabilities and learning the path to overcome them.During two of the workshops, addressed to a more professional group (dancers,educators, people working with the body, also in the therapeutic aspect) presentedThere are also elements of a theater production in which people with disabilities will participate.Similar topics appeared during the discussion panel concluding the project and in the published volumeas part of the "Presence" book. These are the tools thanks to which it was/is possible to raise the levelprofessional and expanding the competences of recipients in the area of ​​artistic work andstage productions with the participation of people with disabilities.

Summary of bilateral results

NORWEGIAN PARTNER in the "Presence" project - CODA Oslo International Dance Festival - actively during the implementation of the projectparticipated in the preparation of its subsequent stages and events, mainly in the substantive field:- together with the Leader, he refined the idea of ​​the program and helped to make changes to the schedule of events in connection withchange of project cut-off dates,- took care of the organization and production of events that took place in Norway during the next two editions of the festival,- co-organized two events (one in Poznań, the other in Warsaw) with the participation of a Norwegian artist,- actively participated in organizational and substantive talks with entities aimed at exchanging competencesartists from Norway,- took part in substantive preparations for the publication,- shared experiences during study visits,- actively participated in the work of the Steering Committee.POLISH PARTNER in the "Presence" project - Teatr 21 - during the implementation of the project, he actively participated in the preparation of its nextstages and events, mainly in the substantive field:- together with the Leader, he refined the idea of ​​the program and helped to make changes to the schedule of events in connection withchange of project cut-off dates,- presented two performances,- completed one workshop activity,- co-organized events taking place in Warsaw: one performance and two workshop activities,- co-organized one workshop event in Poznań,- took part in substantive preparations for the publication,- actively participated in the work of the Steering Committee.
