Description

Reno is a manufacturer of sliding barn doors and wall-mounted sliding door systems. To date, we have purchased complementary elements, such as handles, from subcontractors. Under the project we are introducing a new production element - our own handles made from an ecological composite material created by the recycling of wood waste. The new processes will enable us to treat our post-production wood-based waste and reuse it. This will bring us closer to becoming a zero waste organisation, and will reduce the volume of waste released into the environment by 2 tons per year.

The target group for our new products, i.e. the ecological handles and a modified line of sliding doors with the new handles, are both individual customers, investors, developers and contractors for construction and renovation works. The project will allow us to significantly expand our export markets.

We will cooperate with the Norwegian design studio, EGGS Design, which will be responsible for the design, modelling, prototyping and support in the implementation of the new handle, as well as for a design refinement of the sliding door lines.

In addition to advisory services, we will acquire the rights to the material technology - one of three available on the market, the rights to the handle design. Also, equipment comprising the new production line will be purchased.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to develop the handle / pull handle for sliding doors made from the waste that is coming from out production of wooden doors. As we are a manufacturer of the sliding doors it was a great benefit to create such a solution - complementary product and waste reduction.

For now the result is the 2 new products in our portfolio. The full result would include as well growth in net sales and reduction of wood waste produced by the company.

Summary of bilateral results

How the Project Benefited from Having a Donor Project PartnerThe collaboration with EGGS Design, our Norwegian donor project partner, has significantly enriched the project by leveraging their expertise in design and innovation. Their knowledge and experience in design thinking and user-centric approaches have been key in the successful development of a new sliding door handle model. This partnership has not only elevated the quality and functionality of the product but also introduced cutting-edge design methodologies to our team, enhancing our overall design capabilities.Main Results from a Bilateral LevelOn a bilateral level, the partnership with EGGS Design has resulted in:Innovative Product Design: The sliding door handle, designed by EGGS Design, exemplifies a perfect blend of aesthetic appeal and ergonomic functionality. This product is now available for purchase, showcasing the tangible outcome of our collaboration.Knowledge Transfer: The cooperation facilitated a significant transfer of knowledge in the areas of design thinking and prototyping. Our team gained invaluable insights into the design trends and techniques, which will benefit future projects.Enhanced Market Competitiveness: The introduction of a superior product to the market has strengthened our competitive edge, potentially leading to increased sales and market share.Plans to Continue the Bilateral CooperationWhile we do not have a concrete plan to continue the cooperation at this moment, we recognize the potential for future collaborative projects. We value the relationship established with EGGS Design and are open to exploring further opportunities for partnership as they arise.
