Description

The project "Implementation of a model for well-being advisors in Joniškis district municipality" is designed to reduce health inequalities in Joniškis District. The aim of the project is to implement and develop low-intensity emotional support services in Joniškis District in order to prevent the deterioration of the psycho-emotional state and the development of mental health disorders. During the implementation of the project a well-being advisor''s service point will be established and specialists will be hired to provide consultation to people by using cognitive behavioral therapy. The contribution of well-being advisor in collaboration with institutions  in various fields will encourage people to seek help while facing  emotional difficulties. The project''s partner is Joniškis district public health bureau.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to prevent the deterioration of the psycho-emotional state and the development of mental health disorders in Joniškis district municipality by implementing, developing and introducing low-intensity emotional well-being advisers services for persons facing emotional and psychological difficulties (experiencing symptoms caused by stress, mild depression, anxiety, ect).

During the implementation of the project a well-being advisers service center was be established, 2 specialists hired and trained to provide well-being advisers services to people by using cognitive behavioral therapy. 

From the beginning of 2022, 2 specialists participated in low-intensity emotional counseling training for persons experiencing psychological and emotional difficulties, based on cognitive and behavioral therapy, and obtained the right to provide services of well-being advisers. After finished training in mid 2022, provision of the services to the public was introduced. Specialists regularly improved their abilities and competencies by participating in the supervisions organized by the Lithuanian University of Health Science. Since the beginning of the project, specialists have carried out project publicity activities, organized meetings for the cooperation between different institutions in the district with the aim of increasing the awareness of the new services.

After the implementation of the project, the goal of the project was achieved to implement and develop low-intensity emotional counseling services in Joniškis district, in order to prevent the deterioration of the psycho-emotional state and the development of mental health disorders.

Well being advisers center was established, 2 well-being advisers were trained and started providing well-being advisers services together with implementation of publicity measures and empowering cooperation between institutions in this field. Well-being advisers provided services to 540 persons during the project implementation time and the service provision is continuing after the project implementation.
