This project proposal is aimed at implementing energy efficiency measures and modernisation of part of the external artificial lighting system in Ruse. It includes the neighborhoods “Druzhba-1”, “Druzhba-2”, “Druzhba-3”, “Charodeyka-North”, “Charodeyka-South” and the main streets – “Hristo Botev” Blvd, “Gotse Delchev” Blvd, “Vasil Levski” Blvd, “Bulgaria” Blvd, “Lipnik” Blvd, “Pliska” Str, “Naum” Str, “Dorostol” Str, “Tutrakan” Blvd. The following measures are envisaged: replacement of luminaires with new LED luminaries and introduction of an information system for planning, monitoring, control of electricity costs for street lighting; introduction (construction) of a local system for automatic control of 3 streets; installation of photovoltaic system for production of electricity for own needs. The project will be implemented in partnership with Executive Decision Support AS - Norway, which will participate in experience exchange activities.
Summary of project results
Increasing energy efficiency and improving living conditions through technological renewal and modernization of the outdoor artificial lighting system, as well as optimizing the municipality''s electricity costs.
As a result of the successful implementation of the project, energy saving measures have been implemented through technological renovation and modernization of the outdoor artificial lighting systems owned by the Municipality of Ruse, which has improved the living conditions of the population. The measures include replacing the lighting fixtures with new LED luminaires in several neighborhoods and main streets and boulevards in the city; building an information system for planning, monitoring, and controlling electricity costs for street lighting, building a Local Automatic Control System for 3 streets, and building a photovoltaic power plant in the city of Ruse.
Increased energy efficiency of street lighting, leading to a reduction in the municipality''s electricity consumption and costs, improved living conditions for the population, safe vehicle traffic and pedestrian safety at night.

Improved bilateral cooperation with interested stakeholders in the field of energy efficiency to present good practices and future development of the city and the municipality in this regard.
