Description
The main mission of the project is the enhancement and dissemination of the maritime and fluvial material and immaterial heritage of the Tagus estuary and its riverside cultures, sustainable development and the use of dialogue and proximity with local communities, the scientific community, local authorities and with central power.
The rehabilitation of the shipyard in Porto Brandão has three main objectives:
• Promote, consolidate and guarantee the continuity of shipbuilding techniques for traditional vessels.
• Promote the region''s maritime-river traditions (eg fishing gear)
• Safeguard the Porto Brandão shipyard.
For the success and guarantee of compliance with the defined objectives, the collaboration of the project partners will be crucial.
At present the property is in an advanced state of degradation and without economic activity for more than a decade.
It is essential and urgent to proceed with the rehabilitation of all infrastructures, safeguarding the existing heritage, and promoting the creation of new functions for the space, namely:
• Shipyard Museum
• EcoMuseum
• Interpretation centre with restaurant / cafeteria and interpretation center
• Mooring pier
•Handcraft store
Over the 3 years of the project, and in order to guarantee the fulfilment of the defined objectives, we highlight the following activities to develop:
• Studies, Seminars, Presentations and Workshops;
• Employment opportunities plataform;
• Online store for handicraft;
• Online Ticketing store;
• Technical blog;
• Shipyard Club;
• Interactive kiosk;
• Professional training courses;
• ESL activities and summer courses;
• Courses and professional integration of ex-prisoners (APAC);
• Exchange with Norwegian partners.
