Description

The purpose of the initiative is to exchange experience and share know-how and best practice between the Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer and the Norwegian Breast Cancer Society. Furthermore, the initiative will contribute to developing future cooperation between the Czech and Norwegian partners.
During the study visit, all participants will be informed about their work and activities. The discussion will be conducted to exchange experience and share the practice in the area of breast cancer prevention as well as strengthening the role of patients and patient organizations.

Summary of the results

Based on a detailed discussion with the Norwegian partners on a visit to Norway, the Czech experts decided to prepare a peer to peer program that would transfer the partner organization''s know-how in working with patients to the Czech environment. As part of its program, the Norwegian partner organization educated volunteer patients on how to work with women with breast cancer. In the Czech Republic, lay support for patients does exist, but it is not systematic and professional at this level. The application or adaptation of this program to the Czech environment is very appreciated and beneficial for patients and existing patient organizations.
