Description

Since the establishment of our school we have raised a few generations of educated and confident Roma. We want to improve the quality of our tuition and help them to integrate. The objective of the project is to improve quality of our tuition by using modern approach and technology; make our school program attractive by e.g. providing students with PCs and a sport course that may enrich their experience.The project expects to raise school attendance, provide our students with equal opportunities and help them establish pride and confidence in them. By enabling our students with possibilities to use modern technologies to their advantage we can contribute towards their integration. By using new technology as a part of our tuition we can make it more appealing to our students.Target groups of the project are students, teachers, parents and Roma communities.

Summary of project results

The project was aimed at improving the conditions for education, connecting theoretical knowledge with real life, furnishing schools with modern technologies, tools, teaching materials, organizing lectures and workshops, as well as support for leisure time activities and sports activities.The school has decided to concentrate all funds from the project to carry out innovative activities that should serve to link knowledge about Roma culture to real life in order to achieve awareness and eliminate the isolation of school from Roma families and the environment in which the students are growing up. The project wanted to achieve the interest in the life of the Roma community and among non-Roma population.The main idea of ​​the project was to support the teaching Roma language and roma culture. One of the actions undertaken the project was swimming training.Within the training,the school made trips Zemplínska Sirava, in order to experience the beauty of Slovakia and alert students to different forms of leisure. In addition, the school tried to development the teaching activities in order to create the awareness of the value of their own culture and their own ethnic group. The school focused all funds from the project to carry out the innovative activities that serve to link knowledge about Roma culture to real life in order to achieve awareness and eliminate the isolation of schools from Roma families and the environment in which the students are growing up and are determined by . Funds from the project were devoted mainly to the development of language skills of students in the Roma language, social skills and last but not least, consolidate knowledge about health care, for which the life of disadvantaged social groups closely related. Other activities that have been incorporated into the educational process include: working with people who are not ashamed for it to be Roma, so as to motivate other Roma.Thanks to financial support from the NF, school managed to equip new computer room, which is used for extended teaching of informatics and develop ICT skills.
