Description

Main objective of the project is to execute, purchase and install a small photovoltaic plant with installed capacity if 164 kW which will produce renewable energy for the own use of the Saveni City Hall operations. The operations include public lighting of the city and energy needs for the local school.

The project is meant to solve an important problem for the Saveni city, supply electrical power of local institutions and public lighting from its own source, with the reduction of annual energy bills and with positive impact on the local environment. UAT Saveni contracted a feasibility study in which were analyzed the technical solutions or options that can be implemented in order to achieve an energy cost saving over 40% through own production of renewable energy.

Through the implementation of the project, the following benefits are achieved:

  1. Reducing the local community''s dependence on conventional energy technology which mainly use fossil fuels and improve security of supply.
  2. Positive impact on the environment and contributes to achieving the level objectives energy production from renewable resources.
  3. Energy production is done through modern and non-polluting technologies with the use of resources renewable energy (solar energy), creating new jobs by building the capacities to produce energy from sources renewable (solar energy).
  4. Active involvement of local public authorities in the process of capitalizing on renewable resources of locally available energy.
  5. Reduced costs of electricity paid by public institutions in Saveni.

Expected outcomes of the project include a decrease in CO2 emissions from 112 tonnes in 2017 to 56,3 tonnes in 2021. The annual production of energy is estimated to be around 177,2 MWh. which is almost half of the energy needed by the local community. The project is expected to generate 1 new job.

Summary of project results

After the implementation of the project, installation of a  photovoltaic plant with installed capacity if 164 kW which will produce renewable energy for the own use of the Saveni City Hall operations (public lighting of the city and energy needs for the local school), the following benefits have been achieved:

  1. Reducing the local community''s dependence on conventional energy technology which mainly use fossil fuels and improve security of supply.
