Description
The project Empowering Migrants through Cultural Activities aims to respond to these challenges and is based on the previous collaboration of its partners. Project EMCA combines and improves already well established activity ([fjúžn] festival) with new tools for cultural awareness raising as well as advocacy for migration issues (joining International Cities of Refuge Network, advancing [fjúžn] on the road).
The support from EEA grants would enable us to host first ICORN artist and pilot the whole program in Slovakia, Bratislava. Another important activity of our project are next two editions of [fjúžn] festival, the biggest cultural event in Slovakia focusing on migration and life and culture of foreigners in our country. In 2020 we will celebrate its 15th year and with the support from EEA grants we would like to cofinance its 16th and 17th edition. This year we have also organized tour around Slovakia with [fjúžn] festival and therefore included as one of the main activities of the EMCA project also [fjúžn] on the road. These activities should help us to intervene in the public space of various towns around Slovakia in order to highlight the position and role of the new minorities as regular inhabitants of the respective places using different forms of artistic tools and other means in order to reach out to wide public
