Description
Compared to other students, students with special needs (SSN) are faced with many additional challenges during their studies. They must put additional efforts into arranging study adjustments related to their disability. These days many study activities have been moved to the on-line environment due to Covid-19 related measures. This has had positive and negative impact on SSN.
The project addresses the negative impacts and provides some solutions to minimize them. The project is focused on SSN and higher education staff and aims to provide support to both groups in order to overcome the challenges faced. During the project we will prepare guidelines and recommendations for higher education staff on how to make nowadays studies more accessible for SSN. SSN themselves will be actively involved in the preparation of these recommendation.
At the same time, we will offer advice and support to SSN. They will also receive these recommendations to use them as self-advocacy guidelines.
Furthermore, disabled students will be asked to express themselves also artistically, exchange their experiences with the current situation and connect and support each other.
With the aim to contribute to greater accessibility of study and better awareness of different needs of SSN, all materials which will be prepared during the project will be made permanently available on-line in two forms:
- guidelines and tips on accessibility will be collected in digital publication,
- artistic contributions of students will be collected in a short film.
We will offer personal advice and support to all target groups also after the completion of this project.
