Modera AS is an Estonian automotive software company that aims to create a fully digital car sales platform along with its Norwegian partner Incadea Norway ( https://no.incadea.com/ ). The platform would allow consumers to go through the car purchasing process digitally without having to leave their home. All parties (vehicle dealers, banks, car registration institution, insurance providers and some government institutions) involved in the process will be integrated within the platform, maximising the optimisation in every customer touch-point.
The aim of the project is to minimise the carbon footprint by digitising every touch-point in vehicle selection journey and enable customers to choose the right mean of mobility that fits their personal needs. The latter is achievable by suggesting more environmentally friendly mobility options (e.g. taxi, ride sharing, car sharing, e-hailing, light electric vehicles, electric cars, etc., based on customers’ real needs determined during the process of vehicle selection and location specific availability of options.
The holistic digitised solution that will reduce costs and ecological footprint by 90%. The main sources of savings and benefits, besides of customers behaving more environmentally conscious, are: all information is stored in one environment and it can be accessed by all parties using their regular everyday tools; eliminated travelling; fast and secure; trustworthy service providers; integration with all parties and databases (car registry, insurance, financing, and other service providers).
Summary of project results
Emerging technology has drastically changed the automotive industry. For instance, the demand for e-commerce platforms for vehicles has shot up significantly, especially after the onset of the pandemic. Consumers are more inclined towards making car purchases online, rather than visiting a brick-and-mortar facility to do so – this is where automotive e-commerce comes into play. Modera offers premium automotive software solutions for the global automotive retail industry, to create an e-commerce platform that specifically caters to this sector. Project addressed the development of a car sales platform that fully digitises the process of buying and selling cars.
The aim of the project was to create a user-friendly interface for buying and selling, which can comprehend the needs of customers (vehicle dealers, banks, insurance providers, or any other parties), where all aspects are to be integrated within the platform, thereby digitising the entire customer journey.
Project resulted with a personalised e-commerce platform that uses digital and targeted ads, organisations can point shoppers in the right direction to find the vehicle of their choice or the automotive parts they need. Customers can view cars, compare brands, check product data, look at product pages, and order parts and accessories. The new platform is live and operating (https://auto-impex.modera.org).
Platform helps to reduce the carbon footprint that comes along with traditional car sales. Multiple parties will be involved in digitising the process from start to finish and creating a platform able to keep up with the constant changes in the market.
Summary of bilateral results
Project partner involvement increased in the course of implementation, but mainly remained virtual and distance due to Covid. Regular weekly meetings were used as the main tools for exchange of information and to review project milestones.
