Description
The aim of the project is to strengthen institutional cooperation with an emphasis on education for democracy and active citizenship, setting up cooperation with partner organizations, using the existing experience of Norwegian education and moving them to Czech conditions. To create quality teaching materials that will be used not only in our organization but will also be available to other schools in the South Moravian Region and other regions of the Czech Republic.
Summary of project results
Czech education is faced with many problems - one of them is insufficient understanding and inclusion of education for democracy in school educational programs. ZŠ Vladimír Menšík in Ivančice has an "Open School" program, where, as part of the school''s educational program, it provides pupils from 1st to 9th grade with an hour a week devoted to this issue. As part of the project, we wanted to enrich the program with active citizenship, expand knowledge from Norwegian education within the framework of cooperation, and create documents that will help in the work of teaching staff at primary and kindergarten schools.
The implemented activities were
• modernization of the curriculum focused on the processing of methodological outputs - documents for the field of education for democracy - the creation of methodology + worksheets prepared for kindergartens and primary schools in Czech, English and Norwegian
• piloting of the project''s outputs - the resulting outputs were piloted at the V. Menšík Primary School, the Ketkovice Primary School and Kindergarten and the Oslavany Primary School.
• peer-leaning activity - 8 mutual internships, 4 internships at Stabekk skole in Norway and 4 internships at ZŠ and Kindergarten Ketkovice, Kindergarten Oslavany and ZŠ V.Menšík.
The output of the project was the support of the involved schools - ZŠ V. Menšík, Kindergarten Duha, Elementary and Kindergarten Ketkovice, Stabekk skole. 30 teaching staff involved in the final conference - presentation of project outputs.
Through mutual knowledge from Norwegian education and the exchange of experiences, the competences of the teaching staff were enriched. It shaped the prestige of the schools towards the public. E.g. the small elementary school and kindergarten in Ketkovice saw a greater interest of children in the school thanks to their participation in the project
Summary of bilateral results
Cooperation with Stabekk skole in the project was very important. The approach of Norwegian education is very different in terms of education for democracy and the community itself. Stabekk skole had long-term experience with the student parliament, in cooperation with parents and their practical involvement in the running of the school. Overall, the partner school in Norway gives its pupils more independence and space than at our schools. There was mutual cooperation between the schools, between the teaching staff of the involved schools, but also between the children/pupils of the involved schools. We want to continue our cooperation, e.g. by organizing online workshops, continuing correspondence between pupils.
