Description
The project DIALOG will include multiple events that, regardless of their form (performing arts, photography, cultural circuits and so on), will share the same thing - promoting the cultural identity of communities and diversifying the cultural offer. In the case of theater, dance and contemporary performance, the identified needs include production support, attracting and developing the public, and increasing cultural consumption. Thus, in order to meet these needs, we are proposing the Caleido Performing Arts Festival, a continuously developing festival that promotes cultural diversity. Through the Walk & Shoot festival, we want to increase cohesion in the photographic community and to develop the audience for photography. And last but not least, actions promoting material heritage are typically formal and unattractive. We propose an alternative, through which the heritage (community fountains in Oltenia) will be promoted through performing arts. Thus, we aim to strengthen intercultural dialogue and increase public access to culture through a program of events focused on promoting multiculturalism and cultural diversity
Summary of project results
The project aimed to address the need for promoting multiculturalism and raising awareness of discrimination against marginalized groups. It also sought to increase public access to cultural events, particularly in the performing arts. Additionally, the project aimed to support Romania’s photography community by facilitating knowledge exchange between professional and amateur photographers. Another challenge was providing young photography enthusiasts with learning opportunities and a platform for artistic expression.
The project produced the performance APR (Adoration of the Radical Performance), which conveyed a message about discrimination against those who are different. It organized the Caleido festival, which featured 20 online performances and reached 3,335 participants. A touring program was also conducted, presenting 7 performances from the festival to an audience of 547 spectators.
To support the photography community, the project hosted the Walk&Shoot photography festival, which included 10 photography workshops and 10 photography walks, engaging 391 participants. Additionally, in collaboration with a Norwegian partner, the project organized a photography workshop for 11 young photography enthusiasts. The results of this workshop contributed to the creation of the artistic installation Sera / The Greenhouse.
The project increased cultural accessibility and promoted multiculturalism by engaging over 3,882 people through performances and festival events. APR raised awareness of discrimination, while the Caleido festival provided a platform for diverse artistic voices.
The photography initiatives strengthened the community by fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among 391 photographers, both professional and amateur. The workshop for young photographers provided hands-on learning experiences, culminating in the Sera / The Greenhouse installation, which showcased their work. These activities enhanced visibility for photography as an art form and contributed to the development of emerging talent in Romania.
Summary of bilateral results
The collaboration with the artist Lise Wulff went well. Although the pandemic made it difficult to implement sub-activities 3.2 Bilateral workshop and 3.4 Post-festival events - the two sub-activities that required Lise''s involvement - the three partners found together the optimal solutions so that the indicators and activities assumed in the project to be fulfilled.
