Summary of project results
The goal of the project was to inspire people with disabilities through Role Models to become active members of society, while providing awareness-education about their rights to the public. Through the game Legends of Disability and the educational package that accompanies it, people with disabilities are inspired by 100 Role-Models. In addition, by participating in game co-creation festivals, they expressed their needs and created, in collaboration with experts, new ideas of game-based tools. At the same time, the public became aware and actively contributed to the creation of games that empowers people with disabilities.
During the project Legends of Disability, the project developed:
- 1 educational package which includes the game Legends of Disability (with 100 Role models with disabilities that contributed in our society), the accessible version of the game for people with cognitive difficulties, the digital accessible version of the game for blind people or other disabilities and an educational guidebook
-4 games (1 digital, 3 boardgames) that were generated as ideas in the co-creation festivals by the local communities and were refined through playtestings
-2 Guidebooks; 1 guidebook for educators in schools and 1 guidebook for carers, professionals in the field of disability and volunteers.
Moreover, the guidebooks were printed and donated to more than 80 schools and 40 NGOs in Greece, strengthening this way the sustainability of project.
The results of the project Legends of Disability are:
-Implementation of 3 game co-creation festivals with 432 participants online. 56 participants were people with disabilities while more than 9000 people have attended the live video in Facebook
-12 playtesting at Patras, Komotini and Athens, with the physical participation of 122 people, 67 of which were people with disabilities that have not participated in other actions of our project.
-1 capacity building workshop with 110 participants. 65 were professionals in the field of disability, 11 carers and 34 educators or volunteers.
-Participation of 94 people with and without disabilities in the last event of the project (5 unique participants with disability)
