Description

The role of the teacher is undergoing radical change - his expertise requires continuous training and coordination with colleagues in the use and practical applications of Information and communication technology (ICT) in education. ICT in the educational process should serve as a learning method and not only as a tool. At the same time, it is important to realize that ICT does not replace traditional teaching methods, but complements them by encouraging curiosity, research and experimentation. Through the Norwegian example of good practice in integration of e-learning materials and ICT in education teachers will have a better insight and personal contact with the already established practice. The established partnership with Askim Upper Secondary School will enable our teachers to acquire new technical, pedagogical and organizational skills and experience, exchange knowledge, skills, methods and practices of ICT use.

Summary of project results

Project enabled teachers to acquire new technical and pedagogical skills, learn about examples of good practice, exchange knowledge, methods and practices of ICT use for innovative approaches to teaching through job shadowing. With the introduction of best solutions in school's curriculum, we also expect to raise the attractiveness of vocational education and training systems, initially on local level and consequently on broader level as well. Objective was to exchange knowledge and to integrate best practices with systematic integration of ICT in the every day work of the home organisation. A dedicated work group was formed to evaluate, adapt and prepare integration plan for best and viable solution. First proposals are already being tested in selected classrooms. Beneficiaries played an active role throughout the all stages of the project, especially with the dissemination phase and through collaboration in the work group for best practice integration into home organisation.

Summary of bilateral results

Because of the unforeseen circumstances we needed to change our partner organisation during the project. Alternate organization acted more as a liaison to other schools and companies in the area. Being extremely well connected and interested in cooperation, we were both extremely satisfied with the outcome and it never felt as a lesser compromise, rather an upgrade. All host organisations were really welcoming and offered information and help during the mobility as well as after with materials and advice for the workgroup that is preparing integration plan at home organisation. There are also plans for future cooperation with two of the host organisation, with one project already in the preparation phase.
