Description

Trafficking in human beings is widespread and Slovenia is no exception when it comes to the exploitation of people, being country of transit, country of final destination and to certain extent, also country of origin for young girls, sold in other European countries. The main objective of the project is to raise awareness about the problematic of trafficking among young people in Slovenia through numerous workshops for children and adolescents, by offering them a youth novel, computer game/application, and it also attempts to include the problematic into school curriculum. The objective is also to raise awareness among lay and professional public through exhibition My dreams, presenting the problematic of young Roma children, who are often victims of labour or other forms of exploitation, e.g. forced Roma marriages, and television ad.

Summary of project results

Project Yes! To the life without trafficking was aimed to inform young people about traps of trafficking in human beings through different means, to raise awareness among lay public and among professionals on problematic of forced Romani marriages in different regions in Slovenia by touring photo exhibition My dreams. During the project beneficiary achieved the goals and also exceeded them as they managed to carry out more workshops than anticipated and also added round tables on the topic of Forced marriages to every opening of the exhibition in every city. By that they managed to inform more social workers and police officers and also some other professionals in different regions of Slovenia. Since the main goal of the project was to raise awareness among different groups of people, we can say, that reached high number of target groups was reached. In order to better inform young people, beneficiary delivered short movie (7 minutes), presenting all forms of trafficking. It was used as a tool on their workshops for adolescents in order to achieve that they easily imagine, what is being discussed with them. Beside that 30-second informative advertisement was produced and shared on Facebook as well as published on YouTube, and a youth novel was published and delivered to all Slovene primary schools, secondary schools and public libraries. In order to raise awareness beneficiary published computer game on the topic of avoiding traps of traffickers, and published small informative cards, which were delivered to the children during the workshops. Altogether 158 preventive workshops for children and adolescents in Slovenia were organized, and 10 openings of photo exhibition My dreams with round tables on forced marriages. The main outcomes were 4158 children and adolescents informed about traps of trafficking in human beings through the workshops (instead of 3000 planned), 1260 views of informative advertisement on YouTube, and 684 times played game. As an added value it is worth to mention round tables that were added to the openings of touring exhibition. On these round tables beneficiary discussed the problematic of forced marriages with different professionals (social workers, police investigators, prosecutors, judges, school employees …). Roundtables were not planned at the beginning but after the first one, they decided to carry them out everywhere they went.
