Description

This project results from the partners strong intention to contribute with their international expertise to enhance artistic mobility, by offering support for young artists to exchange ideas and know-how, to develop their professional life in a context in which migration is seen as an important challenge in our current society. Mobility is important for a variety of reasons, including improving their career opportunities. This is in order to establish networks, to reach new audiences and to step into international markets. Also the recognition at home increases by obtaining visibility abroad. The project supports artistic mobility, it expands the possibility to develop artistic exchanges – workshops, residencies - from the artistic and cultural field, facilitates the access of the large audience, to culture, by public presentations, shows, live streaming, generates better understanding of cultural diversity and consolidates intercultural dialogue, with a special focus on the Roma minority. Long-term bilateral relations are stimulated between the Project Promoter, 4Culture Association and Wee-Scavetta/ Kipperberg Foundation (Norway) and the Reykjavík Dance Festival (Iceland). The partnership contributes to artistic development of the concept, as well as the coordination and financial implementation of activities. Both partner organisations rely on their operational capacity, national and international expertise and reputation on developing cooperation projects. The project results in 100 direct participants and beneficiaries from the mobility scheme by expanding the possibility to develop artistic exchanges – workshops, residencies from the artistic and cultural field and 8000 people gaining access to culture by public presentations, shows, live streaming, 20 direct beneficiaries from the minority group.

Summary of project results

The project Foreign bodies was initiated by the PP and implemented in cooperation with its partners, having as common goal to contribute with their international expertise to an enhance of artistic mobility, by offering support for young artists to exchange ideas and know-how, to develop their professional life. All the planned objectives were achieved: supporting artistic mobility, by expanding the possibility to develop some artistic exchanges – workshops, residencies, from the artistic and cultural field; facilitating the access to culture for the large audience, through public presentations and premieres; generating a better understanding on cultural diversity and consolidation of the intercultural dialogue, with a special focus on the ethnic minority on Roma people; long-term development of the bilateral relations between 4Culture and partner organizations in the field of art and culture, with a special focus on cultural diversity. During the project lifetime were realized 4 residencies were hosted by 4Culture at WASP – Working Art Space and Production, in Bucharest with a total of 12 participants from Romania, Norway and Iceland. The residencies included choreographers, visual artists and curators/dramaturges; 4 coaching projects addressing to both performers and choreographers, but also to architects, urbanists and visual artists, were organized in public spaces and at WASP, with a total of 59 participants from Romania, Norway, Sweden, Austria, and Italy. Two of the coaching projects had public presentations and one produced 13 short dance movies available on 4Culture Vimeo channel; 2 Dance productions were supported financially, logistically and administratively: BLANKS, a solo by and with Ingrid Berger Myhre, in collaboration with Singurd Ytre-Arne, and WE ARE ONE, by Inger Reidun Olsen, and performed by 4 Romanian dancers Georgeta Corca, Vlad Benescu, Corina Tatarau and Elisabeta Trefas; a documentary film titled “Foreign bodies” was produced and premiered at WASP in October 2016, with a crew of Romanian and Norwegian artists, technicians and producers. The main beneficiaries of the projects were empowered with artistic know-how during the workshops and coaching projects, and benefit from an increased inter-cultural environment and cultural exchange. The performances offered the chance to very young artists to participate in an international production and to experiment the collaboration with a Norwegian choreographers.

Summary of bilateral results

The donor project partners have contributed from the preparation of the project to the development of the concept proposed by 4Culture, and have brought an important contribution to the situation and the local context in Norway and Iceland. The cultural differences and needs identified by each partner were important in setting up activities where each partner subsequently played a more important role (workshops at Reykjavik / RDF, residency with Francesco Scavetta / WEE, coaching projects and residents in Bucharest / 4Culture, Production and film produced by 4Culture, in partnership with Iroart / Inger Reidun Olsen). Increasing artistic mobility among young professionals, sharing experience and know-how was achieved through workshops and coaching projects, with access to another cultural environment, networking and professional artistic information. The cooperation has led to the promotion of the activities of the partner organizations through different channels and environments, as well as among a diverse audience. At the same time, through the themes approached and the interests of extended cultural environments, partnerships allowed for promotion among a wider audience, while also raising the interest of journalists and media channels actively involved in architecture, anthropology, visual arts, interdisciplinary education, culture education.
