Summary of project results

The project was funded under Coherent Call and its purpose was to research if the youth at risk or with disabilities can be socially integrated in their communities using sport and if so to create an Integration Strategy through Sport that can be multiplied at regional or national level. For that purpose, the Project Promoter evaluated and chose the target group from București – Ilfov area and it consisted of 255 youths at risk or with disabilities (out of which 63 Roma and 107 girls) and 156 specialists. To that end, the youth were physically and psychologically tested in order to guide them to a specific sport, according with their abilities, like football, basketball or gymnastics and to find out what are the reasons of their marginalization. The research drawn on this project was reflected in 3 specifically working with youth at risk methodologies (one for each sport), an integrated methodology that approaches the pedagogical and psychological ways to work with youth at risk, an action plan to implement the strategy and the social integration strategy using sport. This strategy and the other results was disseminated to all interested parties during the information campaigns, but also disseminated to universities, schools, ministries. In order to enhance the project objective, 146 youth and 156 specialists were trained in Combating exclusion and any kind of discrimination through social and civic education. Also there were organized 4 interactive sessions with the youth parents in order to implicate them in the process of social youth integration. The project was important because it proposed to find a better approach to answer disadvantaged youth necessities and to help integrated them socially in the community.
