The €3.5 million fund aims to transfer experience and strengthen cooperation between Lithuanian and Norwegian local, regional and euro-regional partners, in order to contribute to the development of regional policy in Lithuania. Lithuanian public institutions can now apply for grants ranging from €20,000 to €70,000.
Project proposals must include a Lithuanian applicant and at least one Norwegian public institution or NGO as partner. The Lithuanian applicant will be responsible for the implementation of the project. Project applications can be submitted to the fund intermediary, the Project Management Centre, until 10 March 2009.
Projects should aim to address issues pertaining to the following priority areas:
- Protection of the environment;
- Sustainable development;
- Preservation of European cultural heritage; and
- Development of human resources, including support for education and training, capacity building of local authorities and their institutions, health protection and childcare.
The fund will support activities ranging from training and internships, to preparation of partnerships strategies and other activities to encourage the bilateral transfer of experience within the chosen priority sectors.
