Street lighting fund launched in Slovakia

The €2.9 million fund established to improve public lighting in Slovak cities and villages launched its call for proposals on 23 April 2008.

With 85% percent grant support from Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway, the Slovak street lighting fund will modernise and reconstruct public street lighting systems to help increase traffic safety and prevent street crime. The fund will also encourage use of energy efficient lighting, to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.
Grants ranging from €10,000 to €150,000 will be awarded street lighting projects for a maximum duration of 18 months.

The call for proposals is open to submissions from Slovak local authorities. Applications can be submitted to the Slovak Focal Point until 22 August 2008. Details about the application process are available in the open call text.
