As Bulgaria’s performance in this field is below the EU average, and its economy is the most energy intensive in Europe, its government has developed a new national investment policy with special focus on promoting the development of innovative enterprises.

Activities supported by the green industry innovation programme in Bulgaria include investments in environmental technology and processes, training, research and development, capacity building on environmental issues within the public, NGO and private sectors, and remote monitoring related to the environment.

The official launch was organised by Innovation Norway, the programme operator, in cooperation with the Bulgarian Council of Ministers, which acts as the National Focal Point, and the Norwegian Embassy in Sofia. The event was held at Sheraton Sofia Hotel Balkan, and will be followed by several Information seminars organised in the following towns in Bulgaria:

7 December 2012, 13:00 – 15:00 - Vratza, Hall of the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

10 December 2012, 13:00 – 15:00 - Stara Zagora, Hall of the Regional Historical Museum.
