Cooperation on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy

Funding is now available for increasing energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy within the ‘Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’ programme in Bulgaria.

The call was launched with a press conference on 7 October opened by Deputy Minister Anton Pavlov from the Ministry of Economy and Energy of Bulgaria. In his address Minister Pavlov emphasised the results of the EEA Grants, including an expected CO2 emissions reduction by 35,000 tons through increased investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The Norwegian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Guro Katharina H. Vikør, also attended the launch and noted that Norway is well placed to contribute to the exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy. She also stressed that bilateral cooperation between Bulgaria and the donor countries will be encouraged both at both programme and project levels.

What is supported?

The aim of the call is to increase energy efficiency and increased share of renewable energy in energy use for heating and/or cooling in municipal and state buildings. The main activities supported under this call include:

  • Fuel/boilers replacement and/or reconstruction of more effective ones
  • Improvement/replacement and reconstruction of heating systems and/or internal building installations in order to reduce heat losses.
  • Construction and assembling of instillations for production of energy for heating and/or cooling from: biomass, solar, aerothermal, geothermal and hydrothermal energy

Support can also be given to including consulting, seminar participation and meeting and travel.

When is the deadline?

Deadline for submission of bids is 7 January 2015 at 16:30 (EET).
