Summary of project results

The project Corruption - the act is happening, responded to the current social situation, marked by corruption cases in security structures, prosecutor''s office, courts, state administration in connection with organized crime. A state of insufficient professional information about this topic still persists among the young generation. There is insufficient space devoted to the issue of corruption in schools, and there is an absence of materials on the prevention of corruption and experienced lecturers from practice, as well as coordination with the self-government, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic.

In the preparatory phase of the project, coordination meetings were held with representatives of the Presidium of the Police Force, the Government Office of the Slovak Republic, the National Criminal Agency, the project team and the involved schools.

Due to the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic, the implementation was postponed to the months of September - December 2021. The project activities focused on raising awareness and building awareness of corruption - its causality, causes, methods, proof and penalty. The target group were high school students in the Prešov self-governing region. Implementation locations - Prešov, Lipany, Spišská Stará Ves, Svit, Poprad, Vranov nad Topľou and Humenné. About 300 students participated in the project, the lecturer was Col. Tomáš Mikuláš - director of the department of the Inspection Service Office of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, the length of the presentation and discussion was about 50-70 minutes, the exhibition collection was made up of works of cartoon humor that were sent to the international competition Corruption. The choice of activities and their importance was conditioned by the achievement of the project''s goals. At the events, the methodological manual published by the Office of the Government of the Slovak Republic Corruption around us was distributed.

The planned results were measured by quantitative indicators, i.e. approx. 300 participating students, qualitative indicator - increased interest in the issue of corruption among students, positive evaluation of the project by teachers. The unplanned results are characterized by the interest of the involved schools in more intensive cooperation with local NGOs and to motivate official structures to cooperate as well.
