Description
The overall objective of the project was to enhance decent work for third-country workers and Ukrainian refugees in the Polish labour market, building on Norwegian best practice and on the results of a previous project on capacity-building on social dialogue and decent work for employers and trade union representatives in the steel sector.
The project raised the capacity and awareness of social partners on the importance of decent working conditions, including non-discrimination of migrant workers and refugees in the labour market. The project involved Norwegian experts to learn from Norwegian policies and measures related to non-discrimination and integration of migrant workers and refugees.
The previous project''s partnership between employers and trade unions in a transnational undertaking in the steel sector continued, and local authorities were involved in some activities. Digital tools and activities developed in the first period were improved.
The following activities were carried out:
- Launch event in Krakow with 30 representatives of social partners, public authorities, local media, and Norwegian experts
- Research on the situation of third-country workers, in particular Ukrainians, based on gender based analysis and presented in a digital research report
- Update of the interactive online platform from previous project with online self-training actions, report, etc.
- 3 National Workshops for social partners (3x20 participants) to discuss social and labour integration of third-country nationals, in particular Ukrainians, and anti-discrimination measures and policies
- Prepare recommendations in a "code of conduct of equity" for companies and trade union representatives
- Awareness raising campaign on anti-discrimination activities in the industrial sector
Summary of project results
The project focused on improving equal treatment and removing discrimination against migrant workers and refugees in the industrial sector. It sought to strengthen social dialogue and trust, raise awareness of the benefits of decent work, and adopt anti-discriminatory policies and measures in the workplace and institutional environment to guarantee the integration of third-country nationals, particularly Ukrainian refugees.
Research was conducted on the situation of third-country workers, especially Ukrainians, and the findings were presented in a digital research report. The interactive online platform from a previous project was updated to include online self-training actions and reports. Three national workshops were held for social partners to discuss the social and labour integration of third-country nationals and anti-discrimination measures. Recommendations were prepared in a "code of conduct of equity" for companies and trade union representatives. An awareness-raising campaign on anti-discrimination activities in the industrial sector was also conducted.
It improved working conditions for employees, including Ukrainians, within the Polish industrial sector. Enterprises improved equal treatment and removed discrimination based on race or ethnic origin. The project raised awareness, including employees, third-country nationals, Ukrainian refugees, trade unions, employers, and public authorities. It also provided training on decent work issues to social partners. The project facilitated the integration of non-discriminatory policies in participating organisations, with a particular emphasis on gender equality and the fight against discrimination based on nationality and ethnic origin.
