Description
The project raised awareness and knowledge among local SMEs and employees about key aspects of employment regulations
The overall objective of the project was to raise the capacity and awareness of SMEs on the importance of decent work, but also of the benefits of social dialogue for business. This was done through an awareness raising campaign targeting local SMEs and employees by communicating key aspects of employment regulations and also how to acquire further information.
This project was based on the first SDDW funded project of the Chamber of SMEs which built the capacity of staff through specialised legal training in EU national labour law, with the aim to be better equipped to assist its members with legal guidance regarding their rights and responsibilities as employers.
The awareness was improved through an online campaign on the social media platforms of the Malta Chamber of SMEs. The campaign consisted of several info graphics that were split into educating the employee and employer and also promoting the advisory and consultancy services that the Malta Chamber of SMEs can give to the business sector.
Summary of project results
The project focused on enhancing businesses'' understanding of employment law and encouraging them to consult legal regulations before making decisions that could potentially violate the law. The project sought to reduce unfair practices and disputes, increase employee retention and satisfaction, and improve overall working conditions within SMEs in Malta. Additionally, it aimed to increase the visibility and benefits of social dialogue, thereby fostering better working relations and compliance with employment regulations.
It launched an awareness-raising campaign designed to reach a broad audience, particularly targeting SMEs that are more difficult to reach and detached from social dialogue. The campaign utilised various channels, including social media platforms, newsletter articles, and webinars, to disseminate key messages related to employment law. The project also promoted the advisory and consultancy services offered by the Malta Chamber of SMEs. The culmination of these activities was a webinar that provided a comprehensive overview of the project''s objectives and findings, serving as a platform for participants to engage in discussions and seek further information.
The project achieved results benefiting both businesses and employees. The awareness campaign successfully increased knowledge and understanding of employment law among SMEs, leading to better compliance and fairer work practices. The response from participants in the webinar highlighted the success of the campaign and newsletter in generating interest and motivating individuals to engage in discussions on employment law. The long-lasting impact of the project is evident in the education imparted to participants, equipping them to navigate employment-related issues effectively and potentially reducing disputes between employers and employees. The project also enhanced the visibility and benefits of social dialogue, contributing to improved working conditions and cooperation within the business community.
