Description
Barleta´s main operations are focused on production of paper backs and paper packaging for various industries. The aim of the project is to increase the competitiveness of the company by acquiring new, innovative, and greener machinery that can ensure higher production capacity and a better usage of the natural resources by using recovery engines.
Barleta plans to purchase three new machines to achieve this goal. First one is for producing paper bags and sacks in two layers. Second one is for producing paper bags with twisted handles. Finally, the third one is for producing paper bags for the bakery industry. These machines require less energy than the current machines and have a higher production capacity. The main activities are:
- Project management ensured by the company.
- Investment related to the new machinery.
- Publicity to promote the project.
- Audit conducted by an external financial auditor.
Barleta declares that the project aligns with the company’s environmental strategy for greening production processes and combatting excessive use of plastic packaging by producing paper packaging which is 100% biodegradable.
The expected outcomes of the project include CO2 to annually decrease from 287,3 tonnes in 2019 to 268,7 tonnes in 2023. For the same period, energy consumption is expected to decrease from 982 megawatt-hour to 795,7 megawatt-hour. Finally, the project is expected to lead to a creation of 6 new jobs.
