Description
The project by EXPO MOB aims to implement new technologies and equipment that will lead to less energy consumption, less paint vapour emitted in the atmosphere and a more efficient method to manage the sawdust produced in the furniture production.
The solution proposed by the company required the company to acquire various machinery. That includes acquiring a computer numerical control (CNC) machine which reduces the time spent for furniture production. The company also plans to acquire an automatic calibrating and sanding machine which helps the company to automate the sanding process which is currently done manually. The new equipment acquisition will help to define a more sustainable process and diversify the current activity by introducing new equipment.
The project is expected to generate superior value to the company since the investment will have a positive impact on the company’s current activity. The energy efficiency and less emission will fundamentally improve the company’s environmental performance. Key activities include:
- Project management by internal team.
- Investment activity to acquire the machinery.
- External consultancy, including financial audit.
- Intellectual Property Trademark registration.
- Project publicity to ensure visibility of the project.
The expected outcomes of the project include an estimated CO2 annual decrease from 23,6 tonnes in 2019 to 20,09 tonnes in 2022. Annual decrease of volatile organic compounds emission is estimated to decrease from 1680 kg to 400 kg for the same period. Finally, the project is expected to lead to a creation of 5 new jobs.
The project is done in partnership with the Norwegian company Noveltex Oslo AS. They will support the organization in adjusting to the new technology introduced by the project. This will ensure the sustainability of the project from a technical point of view.
