Description

The overall objective of the project is to improve preventive health services and ensure equitable access to health care for vulnerable groups, including the Roma, by developing and implementing a pilot neonatal mass spectrometry screening programme including 42 metabolic diseases for the benefit of the project''s target group while ensuring the achievement of the funder''s intended goal.

The project activities aim at investing in health infrastructure, together with the training of medical and laboratory staff, in order to provide regional neonatal screening health services for vulnerable groups, including Roma.

The main target group, which is the direct beneficiary of this project, is 2,500 newborns (of which at least 1,500 Roma) from groups considered vulnerable who will benefit from extended neonatal screening during the project. The project will also contribute significantly to informing and raising awareness among people from vulnerable groups, including Roma, about the importance of neonatal screening.
