Description
The overall objective of the project is to enhance the capacity of the project promoter to produce accurate and update geographic information as needed for Romanian stakeholders that are dealing with the environmental monitoring and reporting, climate related disaster preparedness and mitigation, climate change effects adaptation, integrated planning and implementation of the EU Directive on harmonization and exchange of geographic information domestically and across national borders.
The main expected outcomes of the LAKI III project are the development of accurate territorial tools for climate related disasters preparedness and mitigation, efficient storage, public access and distribution for update geographic data and project partners strengthened cooperation.
As an extend of LAKI II project, the LAKI III project area consists of production of detailed Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and Digital Surface Model (DSM) through Laser scanning with appropriate precision for approx. 50.000 sq.km , covering partially 8 counties territory - Area A (Caraș-Severin, Gorj, Mehedinți and Dolj county in the South-West) and Area B (Suceava, Neamț, Bacău and Vrancea county in the North-East) of the country. The Laser scanning will be performed with 8 points/m² laser point cloud for counties areas and 16 points/m² laser point cloud for county residence municipalities areas. The DTM and the DSM will be generated at 0.1 and 0.5 m resolution. All products will be delivered in Stereographic 1970 projection system and in the Black Sea 1975 reference system and the national geodesic points network will be connected to ETRS89 coordinate system. By enhancing its capacity building (knowledge transfer, training and partner’s cooperation), the Project Promoter (NACRL) will Implement secure and efficient solution for storage, public access and distribution of the collected and processed terrain data.
