Description
This project is related to project RO-ENERGY-0061, aiming to electrify additional households.
The main objective of the project is to reduce energy poverty through the electrification of 13 households by using energy produced from photovoltaic panels and ensuring normal living conditions for a number of 20 persons. The households are isolated, the existing electrical distribution network in the area is located at a great distance.
Siriu Commune aims to increase the well-being of its inhabitants by implementing projects that answer their needs and to create a good environment for their living and their economic activities. One of the issues identified by the local authority is the isolated households where 20 persons do not have electricity. These isolated households are located within the administrative territory of Siriu Commune. These households are not electrified because the connection to the grid is not economically feasible. Siriu Commune intends to address this issue and to increase the security of energy by partly covering the household''s electricity needs from green sources. Siriu Commune will use photovoltaic panels in order to ensure the light and other electricity needs for these households.
Based on the analysis to be performed during project implementation, the photovoltaic panels will be placed either on the ground or on the buildings roofs in those cases where the roof can sustain the increased weight of the photovoltaic system. Key activities will be: investment, training of household''s permanent resident on using the photovoltaic system and publicity measures to ensure the visibility of the project.
Expected outcomes include 20 persons benefitting from being connected to electricity solutions, CO2 emissions to decrease by 17,5 tonnes annually and finally production of energy from renewable source of 57,20 MWh/year.
Summary of project results
Energy poverty and lack of electrification of isolated households.
One of the issues identified by the local authority, Siriu Commune, was the isolated households where 20 persons did not have electricity. These households are located within the administrative territory of Siriu Commune and are not electrified because the connection to the grid is not economically feasible.
The project reduced energy poverty through the additional electrification of 13 households by using energy produced by photovoltaic panels (13 off-grid photovoltaic systems), ensuring normal living conditions for a number of 20 persons. The households are isolated and the existing electrical distribution network in the area is located at a high distance.
Outcomes:
- Number of additional persons benefitting from being connected to electricity solutions: 20 persons.
Outputs:
- Number of additional non-connected households provided with electricity solutions where the power source for the electrification is a renewable energy source (RES): 13 households;
- Number of additional households permanent residents trained on how to use the renewable energy sources: 13 permanent residents (at least one person trained per electrified household).
