Description

The main objective of the project proposed by Popesti Commune is to reduce energy costs, increase the security of energy supply by covering their need from green sources and reduce CO2 emissions. The Commune will use photovoltaic panels in order to assure the electricity for 8 public buildings, which currently are supplied with electricity from national network) For the 8 buildings a number of 654 photovoltaic panels will be installed.

The estimated energy to be produced is 247.3 MWh/year, of which 205.67 MWh/year will be used directly by the objectives where the panels are installed, the remaining 41,61 MWh/year will be delivered in the distribution network and will compensate the issued invoices.

The photovoltaic panels will be mounted on the roof for all locations, except one. In case of this location, the roof of the existing building on the location has a very small surface compared to the energy consumption of the equipment, and therefore the photovoltaic panels will be placed on the ground. A number of 8 people will be trained in this project, one for each location. The beneficiary will not have any income from the operation. The real benefit will be the reduction of electricity consumption costs, since the photovoltaic system will produce energy only to compensate its own consumption. The estimated energy consumption for the 8 locations is 322MW/year, therefore, the project will cover 76% of the energy consumption.

Key activities include:

  • Technical design and assistance.
  • Investment activities.
  • Financial audit.
  • Project management.
  • Publicity to ensure the visibility of the project.

The project has a positive impact on the future development of the community. Following the implementation of the project, the dependence towards the conventional sources of energy will be reduced, as well as the energy costs.
